If you have never had a 3D scan before, you may be wondering how it works. There is no need to be nervous. The process is entirely non-contact, the equipment doesn’t need to touch you in order to record data. The experience is very similar to having your picture taken, you just need to stay still a little longer.
Our state-of-the-art 3D scanning system allows us to copy physical objects in the real world and save them as digital data. Using this equipment, we record millions of measurements and create a digital 3D duplicate of an object’s geometry. This data is then saved as a 3D scanned model with textures in the STL and OBJ file formats.
Once your digital file is created, it can be 3D printed at any time even at home with your own 3D printer. Digital models can also be used as avatars in the virtual world, video games, and a growing number of online applications.
